Business Started. Now What? Raise Money!

I became a patent pending inventor in December 2016. I blush. I am proud of this accomplishment. It’s the first invention I prayed for and had the money to invest in. It all came together. So I thought!

My dream of becoming a successful entrepreneur and inventor has come to a screeching halt. The smoke has not settled yet. That’s how recent it has happened.

I am out of funds. Now, mind you I have a part-time job at a local hobby store. However, it only pays for my credit cards and car payment. I usually do not have any money left over. If I do have money left over it is because I put in more hours than normal. Of course, that’s if they did not cut my hours for the week. If that happens, I don’t have money and have to rely on my husband to pay my bills. I really don’t care to do that.

I did like most people who want to raise money, I started a Kickstarter campaign and a Fundme campaign. I had no results. Not only did I not get any supporters from those campaigns but I lack the support, financially and emotionally I guess, from my family or friends. Not even my husband will invest in my invention.

Everyone loves my invention when they see it in action. To look at it you really can’t tell what it is or what it does. So I need a whiteboard explainer video right? That took me to a website called Fiverr.com. At this website you can hire and or pay for services at a cost of five dollars and up. It’s a great way for business startups to get some services done.

During my six months of membership at Fiverr.com, I encountered some shady characters. I encountered people who did not know what they were doing. I also found a few diamonds. I purchased a logo for my parent company Vengeance Innovations and Designs LLC from one talented artist. I use it on my business cards.

I still have not received a whiteboard explainer video because when I tried to change my password I was locked out of my account. After what seemed like 1 million emails back and forth to their support department, I gave up on the account. I no longer use it.

That all being said, tax season came around in 2017. My husband and I split any tax return we may happen to get. So I got around $1200 and invested all of it into starting my business as Vengeance Innovations and Designs LLC dba The Wonder Sleeve. I used all of that money to pay for business licenses for the state and the city and the county. I also bought more supplies to make more sleeves.

That was back in March and April of this year, 2017. Because of some added stress of health issues I encountered this year in May it put a toll on my paycheck. I had to rely on my husband again to pay my bills.

I’m telling you all of this because I am looking for an investor. I know I have a good product. With the right investor, I know it would be a great success. I need help and I need someone to believe in me and my product.

All the best,

P

Blood Type O – Rh Negative

We have all seen the movies, right? Well, this blog is not about the movies. Sorry!

It is, however, about one of the most interesting finds in my lifetime.  Are you ready to hear about something so far out there that you will be ready to find out about your own existence?

Back story – my mother has always said that we have African-American blood in our bodies. She bases this “find” on the fact that we have curly hair. Now our hair is not kinky curly like the African-American hair. It is curly. The second thing that she proclaimed throughout my life is that we have Cherokee Indian in our family line.

You know how we are as children, we want to prove our parents wrong as much as possible. That is why, in the fall of 2016, I purchased the ancestry DNA kit from ancestry.com for $99. For disclaimer purposes, ancestry.com has not paid me nor am I endorsing this product for them.

I was really excited to find out what my DNA would show.

The next thing is, on July 22, 2016 on the history channel Ancient Aliens aired episode 10 titled “The Prototypes”.

My brother-in-law lives with us and I was walking by his room when I overheard this episode on his TV. They were talking about the Rh factor in blood types. Well, that peaked my interest, so I asked him to record that episode. I watched it later that evening with my husband.

According to this segment, episode 10, in the last 15 or 20 minutes of the show, the Rh negative factor did not show up until the mid-1500s. They go on to say 85% of the population are Rh positive. The other 15% are the rare – Rh negative factor. Blood types are A, AB, B, and O. I am blood type O. I am also Rh negative. I did not know my blood type until recently when I gave blood at a mobile blood bank.

The reason I know I am Rh negative is when I gave birth to my son they told me they would have to give me an injection because I am Rh negative. According to the American Pregnancy website, a mother is given “[a]n injection of Rh immunoglobulin (RhIg),” which “can prevent sensitization of a Rh-negative mother” .  That’s why I had to have the injection after I gave birth to my son and that was in 1984.

The website continues,

  • “If the baby is born with Rh-positive blood, the mother should be given another dose of RhIg to prevent her from making antibodies to the Rh-positive cells she may have received from their baby before and during delivery.”

You can read more about the Rh factor by clicking here.

If you are Rh negative blood type, you cannot receive a blood transfusion from any other blood type. It also means that you carry the Rhesus monkey protein in your blood cells. You can read more about the Rh negative factor at the Rh negative registry website by clicking here.  This website also states “when an Rh- Woman becomes pregnant with an Rh+ baby, she will naturally produce antibodies that seek out to find and destroy the foreign body; their unborn baby”.

It is however why blood tests were mandatory when people got married. The father of my son and I both had to have blood tests prior to getting married in 1984.

Now, back to the Ancient Aliens episode. The question is where did the Rh negative factor come from. Ancient Aliens stated it could come from extraterrestrial beings. But, you know how they put the spin on things. I am neither condoning nor condemning the TV show. It gives way to much thought and contemplation.

Also, according to Ancient Aliens the majority of Rh negative factor blood types are concentrated in Europe. Now, this gets interesting because according to my ancestry DNA, I am 93% Great Britain/Europe. Furthermore, I have no African-American DNA, nor do I have any American Indian, in my DNA. As a matter of fact, I do not have any American DNA. It is all from Europe.

Recently, I have been making new friends, new business associates etc. I have found at least one of them is also type O blood and is Rh negative. I find this curious.

If we, Rh negative factor beings, are from another alien life form, are we now starting to gather unknowingly, but by some extraterrestrial calling, if you will?

Is it time?

Let’s go home!

Getting in the Mood for Writing

Good Morning G,

This is my attempt at “getting in the mood” for writing.  I just told my husband last night that ‘I really need silence to write. I will probably have to get up and stay up after my three a.m. bathroom visit.’  Guess what, it was four a.m. and I have been up ever since.

I have attempted several times to write my books, as I wanted to get them on paper, so to speak, whilst I’m on a school break.  I have two months to get them finished.

It’s five a.m. and I’ve been up for an hour.  My husband drowns out the silence of the night with his snoring and breathing, I should say his NOT breathing.  I have to shake him to get him to gasp for air.  It’s ridiculous really.  I don’t know what it is about men that they think they can just live forever without going to the doctor.  I think that’s probably why they die before women.  Come to think about it, women are pretty amazing.  We take on the world and still live longer than men.

In an article (because I know you love them so much), Bridget K. Gorman, PhD and Jen’nan Ghazal Read, PhD wrote that “[t]he most recent data show that the gender gap in life expectancy is 5.3 years, marking the lowest point in more than 50 years. The gap is largest when measured at birth and shrinks dramatically with age. In other words, if men live to the age of 65, and especially 75, their life expectancies approach that of women of the same age. The gender gap shrinks with age because men are more likely to die at younger ages from a variety of causes (e.g., heart disease, cirrhosis of the liver, homicide, suicide), and mortality rates between the sexes equalize in the later years” (Geriatrics & Aging, Why Men Die Younger than Women, Geriatrics and Aging. 2007;10(3):182-191)… read more here.

There you have it.  So, maybe if they frequented a doctor’s office they would live longer.  Only they have the power to do it.  Because, as we know, we cannot change them.

Anyway, this blog post is suppose to be about getting in the mood to write.  I do love to write.  I would love it better if I could use the Dragon Naturally Speaking software to type speech to text.  But then, I would have an audience, because I am never alone.  The brother-in-law lives upstairs and he hears practically everything.  I would have to relocate to my bedroom to get any privacy.

Well, I do appreciate your time, but I’m off to prepare my morning for work.  Husband’s car broke down so he’ll need mine today.  At least we’ll have a few minutes together before I go into work.  I do enjoy our time together.

We’ll talk soon again,

P
